Schedule 10 has an 0.083" wall thickness, 3/4" tube has an OD 1.050 and ID .884. The 1/2" schedule 40 (or schedule 10) would fit with 0.022" clearance. I'd slit that and use hose clamps instead of schedule 40. I think the compression joint will be stronger with the smaller tube inside the larger tube.
