2009-3-26 Curious as to what you guys think of ride characteristics of a custom 7005 aluminum frame vs. an off-the-shelf Cannondale CAAD9 aluminum frame, assuming a 54cm (or equivalent) frame size. Intended purpose would be for training racing, for a ~85kg person. Thanks for any insight.

2013-3-4 The Cannondale booth at the then San Francisco Grand Prix had a fully built CAAD8 with DA7800 and it appeared to be around 15lbs (a mid-large size frame, not a small frame). Don't let your CAAD9 fall or the frame might be toast. This goes for all modern aluminum or carbon bicycle frame.

2012-3-27 Walk away walk away! Ebay is littered with caad9 frames complete bikes, both new and used and not repainted. Unless you know the guy well, and know who he bought the bike from, I wouldn't bother with getting a 3rd-hand repainted aluminum bike frame unless it was dirt cheap. You don't know what kind of stories that powedercoat is trying to cover, not to mention if its indeed a cannondale caad9.
2009-8-19 43 Posts. #2 May 1, 2009. IMHO, Cannondale doe's aluminum better than anyone. If you want aluminum- go Cannondale. I have ridden the S1 it's a solid bike. I just don't like a couple things about it: 1) The rear stays are really, really stiff. It vibrated a lot over rough terrain. 2)

2012-10-3 caad9: stiff rearend system is a caad9 rear with a super stiff front end. the system is much more race bike than a super. comparing a caad9 and system is difficult. if it were me, i would go system, as its stiff bike all the way around. but, im a race style rider. comfort, thats tough.
