Ive tried copper leaf, didnt work so well on the body cavity but was good for the pickguard. With aluminum tape you would have to fold the ends, or put a jumper between each piece since the aluminum isnt on the bottom if the tape.

Dec 23, 2020 Often the copper foil kits have no excess for mistakes like the foil sticks to itself like cling wrap. Aluminum kitchen foil will work but rarely looks as good as the HVAC tape. Looks like someone made meatloaf for the guitar. Any foil you put down, you need to use an ohm meter, overlap or even hem strips, and test every strip for continuity.

Check the control cover plate and the switch plate cover, easy place to add some shielding and make sure you tie it to ground. There is no reason NOT to shield a guitar. Just make sure to not wrap copper tape around the coils without a gap. I would not wrap the pickup itself or cover.

Feb 15, 2011 Each cavity has to be shielded and grounded to the output jack. Dont forget to shield and ground the underside of the pick guard as well. The problem with aluminum foil is that it is not as conductive as copper, and you cant solder the pieces together.
