Alum coils work much better for anything that takes alot of power or is for spl. For example our new sonance v.2 has a 50mm tall coil. the copper one weighed almost 300 grams. the high temp alum weighed 128.5 grams.

Depending on how much Power you would plan to put to the speaker, would decide generally which coil to choose as an option. For example if you were planning on buying an hdc3 and you only had about 1000 watts to power it with, the obvious choice would be copper coils.
